The normal births website is part of the Better Births Initiative at the Royal College of Midwives and follows on from the Campaign for Normal Birth. These resources have been developed with contributions from a range of midwives and professionals from Royal College of Midwives and stakeholders. We would like to thank all the contributions made by midwives, other professionals and mothers to inform the Better Births Initiative.
About the Royal College of Midwives
Working with the midwifery professionals in the UK, the RCM promotes excellence, innovation and leadership in the care of childbearing women, the newborn and their families, nationally and internationally. Their mission is to enhance the confidence, professional practice and influence of midwives for the benefit of child-bearing women and their families.
The RCM is committed to developing a maternity service that truly meets women’s and babies’ needs throughout pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period. A maternity service based on woman-centred care is a vital contribution to public health and an essential investment in the well-being of tomorrow’s citizens.
